Harness your blood's own with PRP for skin & hair loss

Loss of tissue and decreased skin elasticity due to sun damage, the natural aging process and other influences can make your face appear tired, dull and even hollow in places. Dark circles, age spots, eye bags, and, of course, wrinkles can make you look, and feel, older than you actually are.

Additionally, factors such as hormonal changes, certain medications and diseases, stress and genetics can contribute to thinning hair or Androgenetic Alopecia (male and female pattern baldness). Often creating psychological distress in individuals coping with these changes.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy has been well established in the medical arena for years, due to its healing and tissue regeneration capabilities. As a treatment that taps into your blood’s own regenerative process, it is an ideal cosmetic procedure to help restore your skin’s natural beauty and fight hair loss. Specific portions of your own blood are sourced and then applied to areas of concern, thus creating highly effective natural-looking results.

What is PRP for skin & hair loss?

PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. Platelets are tiny blood cell fragments that pack a big punch. They contain growth and healing factors, thus playing a key role in the body’s repairing process. When a blood vessel gets damaged, platelets are responsible for the clotting that stops bleeding and promotes healing. Plasma is the liquid portion of our blood. It is these portions of our blood that are used, in concentrated form, as a therapy to help rejuvenate the skin and stimulate hair growth.

Blood Healing

How do PRP works?

PRP therapy starts with a small collection of blood from your arm, which is then placed into a centrifuge, to separate the platelets from other elements in the blood (such as, the red blood and white blood cells). The goal is to isolate Platelet-Rich Plasma and then inject it back into targeted areas, via micro-needling, where improvement is desired.

Concentrated growth factors (proteins) and stem cells get released and begin to promote collagen production and cellular rejuvenation. This concentrated healing process can help improve skin firmness, tone, texture, dark circles and wrinkles, as well as stimulate hair follicles in the scalp to encourage thicker hair growth – in dying hair follicles.

Where is PRP Applied?

Depending on your goals, PRP can be used to improve the skin on your face, neck, hands décolletage and even reduce the appearance of scars. Due to its ability to improve cellular turnover, it can also be used to treat acne.

PRP is also suitable for most hair types and is meant for areas on the scalp where thinning hair currently exists (i.e., it cannot bring dead hair follicles back to life). PRP helps stop hair follicles from shrinking and encourages them to grow. Thus, reducing thinning, and increase thickening of the hair shaft.

So, if you are looking to harness the magic of your body’s healing powers, and kickstart your natural collagen production, PRP may be an excellent solution for you. It’s time to reveal that vibrant, refreshed skin from within, and stop letting thinning hair-thin your self-esteem. It’s time to fall back in love with yourself!

What can I Expect?

With its 100% naturally derived healing benefits, PRP therapy makes for a very safe and reliable treatment. It is minimally invasive and requires little downtime. While you may experience some skin sensitivity, mild swelling, redness and/or bruising in treatment areas, this typically subsides within a few days. PRP is well tolerated by most individuals, but a topical anesthetic is applied beforehand to keep you relaxed and comfortable.

PRP therapy for the skin/face usually entails 3 sessions 4 weeks apart. Therapy for hair restoration usually entails 4-6 sessions 4 weeks apart. Bi-annual maintenance sessions may be recommended for optimal outcomes that speak for themselves.

You can expect to see continuous improvement in treatment areas in 3-6 months. Individual results may vary. Dr. Samim Hanna MD, CCFP will assess your unique needs to help you decide on the best PRP treatment plan for you.
